Update: 7/4/2011:  (For those of you have have not read this before, the main description is below this entry) This challenge is becoming more and more surreal, Now it seems that it's becoming a drag act too, with additional sponsorship raised if I wear, purple tights, a purple thong, purple tutu and a purple rosette.   Anyhow, I'll go with it, but bear in mind that it will be January, so don't think any of you are going to get a glimpse of my perfectly rounded, and dare i say it, cute backside.  No comments thank you RL.  I'll be wearing these items over my clothing.  I'll be more than happy to take any other suggestions, so long as the price is right, and that i don't look like the donkey from buckaroo come January.     I’m not sure about you, but these days it seems that you can’t go anywhere near Steve Hyder without hearing the  “K” word.  That’s right folks, “Killimanjaro”. My esteemed colleague, Steve is taking every opportunity available to recruit sponsors for his worthwhile climb, in aid of The Rainbow Trust, a children's charity providing emotional and practical support to families who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness and I applaud him in his efforts in raising much needed money to this particular cause. But frankly I’m getting a tad bored with hearing him go on and on and on about it every five minutes (It’s deflecting attention from me after all).  As such, I’ve decided to set up my own sponsored event ( also in aid of The Rainbow Trust) to rival his own, but lacking the mental self discipline, commitment and general physical stamina, I thought it would be better (and more comical) to set my sights a little closer to sea level.  Therefore on Wednesday 19th January 2012, the same day that Steve is destined to reach the summit of Mount Killimanjaro (Which is incidentally Swahili for “shining little hill”– big deal eh? ), I’ll be attempting to reach the summit of..............wait for it.........Mount Titseymanjaro (Swahili for “Great Titsey Hill Mountain of The North Downs”) To put things in perspective, “Killi” (as the pro’s call it) stands at 5,895 metres above <a style="background-attachment: initial; background-origin: initial; background-clip: initial; background-color: initial; background-position: initial initial; background-repeat: initial initial;" href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea_level">sea leve</a>l, whereas “Titsi” stands at a staggering 267 metres. Obviously an expedition of this scale requires careful planning, the most cutting edge of equipment and an experienced team, but fear not folks, for I have already considered the risks.  I am currently compiling an inventory of equipment, which currently includes: ·         20 Superkings (and wind proof lighter) ·         3 x Mars Bars ·         18 Bottles of Ribena ·         Reebok Classics ·         Woolie hat ·         Oxygen Mask ·         2 Doughnuts ·         Chocolate Cake ·         Stannah stairlift (optional) I commence official training this week with my first climb of Snatts Hill, Oxted.  I have already conquered Station Road East, Oxted, but in fairness that wasn’t official training; I had ran out of Ribena and doughnuts and had to go to Sainsburys. As for having an experienced team, I am currently in negotiations with getting a Ghurka to assist me ( not the highly skilled, brave and strong Nepalese warriors, I mean a Curry from The Ghurka Kitchen; I’m sure that will be sufficient motivation for me to get to the summit). OK, I’ve had my bit of fun now, seriously I will be walking Titsey Hill on January 19th 2012 for The Rainbow Trust.  I thought it would be a good way of having a bit of fun (At Steve’s expense) whilst raising further funds for a worthwhile cause.
